ALPINA’s distinct blend of super-high efficiency and uniqueness in a stunningly gorgeous 6 Series Gran Coupe body that showcases xDrive.
March 4, 2014 … Today BMW revealed the launch of the new BMW ALPINA B6 Gran Coupe. The 2015 BMW ALPINA B6 Gran Coupe will make its North American launch at the New York International Auto Show in April and will go on sale quickly afterwards. Rates will be $118,225 including $925 destination and handling charges.
The BMW ALPINA B6 Gran Coupe provides exceptional 0 to 60 mph acceleration in just 3.7 seconds. The 540-horsepower and 540 lb-ft output of the 4.4-liter ALPINA Bi-Turbo V8 is channeled with an 8 speed Sport Automatic Transmission with ALPINA Switch-Tronic and BMW’s xDrive smart all-wheel drive system.
A carefully tuned high efficiency stainless steel ALPINA exhaust system with twin elliptical tailpipes resonates with a deep but inconspicuous exhaust note.
Electronic Damping Control and Active Roll Stabilization technology interact with the completely variable torque distribution of the xDrive smart four-wheel drive system. The smooth integration of chassis and powertrain allows agile and neutral driving dynamics that satisfy the highest needs for sportiness, convenience and all-weather traction.
With a top speed of 198 MPH, the BMW ALPINA B6 Gran Coupe impresses not just with its simple and easy and confident super-high performance, but likewise with its finely balanced handling and smooth aerodynamic and nicely sculpted body.
Functional and classy aerodynamic design
Normal ALPINA design features blend stylishly into the sophisticated lines of the B6 Gran Coupe, accentuating its powerful and vibrant look. The polished and delicate 20″ ALPINA CLASSIC 21-spoke wheels complement the long and smooth shapes of the B6 Gran Coupe.
As lovely as the ALPINA design features are, the aerodynamic aspects are likewise totally practical. The front apron with integrated, somewhat protruding splitter aspects directs airflow over and around the body rather than beneath the car and therefore adds to increased high speed aerodynamic stability.
The front apron was thoroughly developed to provide enough airflow for the cooling requirements of the powertrain, directing air to the intercooler, in addition to the various heat exchanger aspects for coolant and oil. The 14.7 inch diameter front brake rotors and the 13.6 inch diameter rear brake rotors benefit from NACA ducts at the front of the underbody to direct cold air to them.
Handcrafted interior with the finest products
The ALPINA exclusive LAVALINA leather is used to cover the hand sewed steering wheel, door sill trimmings are highlighted with an illuminated ALPINA logo design and special ALPINA Myrtle wood or Piano Black trim finishes are offered.
A large range of individualization possibilities are available for ALPINA clients. The BMW individual and the ALPINA equipment varieties are readily available to develop a genuinely distinct vehicle making use of the Gran Coupe body as a canvas for the personal preferences of BMW Alpina B6 drivers. Special ALPINA outside colors available for the BMW ALPINA B6 Gran Coupe consist of ALPINA Blue and ALPINA Green.
The ALPINA factory
As is the case with every other BMW ALPINA automobile, the B6 Gran Coupe body is produced in the BMW 6 Series manufacturing facility (Plant Dingolfing) and hand finished with select ALPINA powertrain parts and indoor devices at the ALPINA manufacturing facility in Buchloe, Germany. This production sequence extends the manufacturing schedule by around two weeks.
The BMW ALPINA B6 Gran Coupe is offered as an unique order vehicle with capacity-limited production. European Delivery at the BMW World delivery center in Munich is offered for the BMW ALPINA B6 Gran Coupe as is delivery at the BMW Performance Center in South Carolina. Customers can even pick both, if they so desire.
